About Me

I am Jodika Ripley, a Theatre student at Brunel University and aspiring Event and Wedding Planner.

Born in West Yorkshire, I initially found my interest in event organising as a teenager setting up and helping to cater for parties thrown by my parents.

At age 18 I began performing at parties professionally as a jazz vocalist, and moved into producing larger-scale events in the field of art and theatre.

As Director of the unincorporated semi-professional theatre company Breakneck Productions, I produced, directed and organised several large events in both public and private locations. In particular our Shakespeare in the park event in Huddersfield and our involvement in the Halifax Festival were highly successful and gained us the attention of the local press, at which point I also managed the Public Relations side of our organisation. For more information on my work with Breakneck, see (link).

The company was forced to go on hiatus when its leading members left Yorkshire to study. However, I have found time to accumulate more experience alongside my studies. I worked as a volunteer at the South Bank's Festival of Neighbourhood, and recently completed a highly informative work placement with Opera North, where I helped in the planning stages of an upcoming international outreach program.

In my spare time, I paint, sing, sew and play Live Action Roleplay games - and assist my game society in the organisation of its monthly local and annual national events.
